June 2nd 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The Centre for Peace and Justice (CPJ), an advocacy group for South Sudan canceled, on Friday, a public briefing aimed at enlightening South Sudanese citizens living in Uganda over progress made during the previous round of the High-Level Revitalization Forum (HLRF) by South Sudanese parties in Addis Ababa, the civil society organization said on Friday.
In a statement extended to the Nyamilepedia, the advocacy group announced that it had cancelled the planned public briefing which was scheduled for Friday, June 1st 2018 at Cavendish University campus in the Ugandan capital Kampala due to reasons out of its control.
“This to inform you that the Public debriefing Session on HLRF which is schedule tomorrow at Cavendish University is Cancelled due to circumstance beyond our control as an organization,” the group said in a statement to the Nyamilepedia without explaining more.
The group said it is in talks with the South Sudanese embassy in Kampala to revive the public gathering but could not rule out the possibility of similar results.
“We are in negotiation with South Sudan Embassy in Uganda to resettle the matter and will update you accordingly,” the statement said.
However, sources told the Nyamilepedia from Kampala that the South Sudan embassy in Kampala is objected to the event over its stances in the peace process in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa which might be the reason for the collapse of the previous round of the HLRF last month.
The Centre for Peace and Justice is a civil society organization based in Kampala. It was founded in December 2016 as an advocacy and human rights organization.

No need to brief South Sudanese in Uganda about a failed peace talk. IGAD should surrender the peace process for South Sudan to UN.
True, it’s waste of time and resources to bring people together for briefing on what is already a past tense. You better call us to discuss the way forward.
Secondly why subject the meeting to the permission of the South Sudan embassy in Kampala which is not a neutral partner to this conflict? I think permission from the Uganda security and police is what is required.
