April 22, 2018(Nyamilepedia) — It leaves no doubt in my mind that many of us intimate friends of Daniel Wour  Joak who have just woken up to the shocking news of his passing on, are yet to come term with his physical absence in our social life. However, grieving his physical demise must not hinder our duty to honor him and celebrate his heroic and productive life. For me,  I must size this opportunity to pay tribute to a man who wasn’t just my best friend but a comrade, a pal and possibly the bravest person any of us has ever met. He literally never worried about anything, not because he didn’t care about preserving his own health but because he had complete confidence that he could win any battle including the one he just lost to liver cancer. In light of how suddenly and soon he got sick, I have to wonder if Daniel Wour was born with the drive to live at a faster pace than most, he still would have found a way to travel the world, ride a big wave, and charm a giant like TRIAKA. He was proof that as long as you have your life and limb you can still achieve what you want in life. That was how he worked to convince TRIAKA to play the role it is still playing to revitalize ARCSS.

Socially, Daniel epitomized the footloose lifestyle many of us would enjoy around him but the man was always focused and principled. It was the joy of my life to act as his occasional sidekick in the projects we did together from our days as state ministers of education. I share a lot with Daniel but the magnetism that drew us together the most was our intimate relationship as pals. We both love books and giggle when we write our inks nails off. Daniel was a bookish who liked my book and would put pressure on me to finish one to lend him one. Daniel told me that he enjoy digging deep into my sentences where  I hid the meaning of my words from non critical readers.

In. The man was  guy was unstoppable. Anyone who has had the privilege of discussing the politics of struggle with Daniel Wour would know that political activism was his niche In the short amount of time I was privileged to call Daniel my friend, I never learned to adopt his deep sense of optimism, but every day his memory challenges me to fight harder for what I want. For Norway where he worked and where he struggled and fought his home of homes, where his heart was is South Sudan. Hence, in honoring him, we honor the best in ourselves. Last year, from Norway, he wrote these words to me: “My journey,” he says, “is almost ended, and I have a much broader scope than when I started out, which I believe will add new life and dimension to our struggle for freedom and honor and dignity in the South Sudan. “The main thing is that we keep a united front wherein our most valuable time and energy will not be wasted fighting each other.” Ultimately, he encouraged me to write book with him and I finish most of the chapters he assigned to me to write but he has suddenly left me to write and read alone but the struggle continues.

Rest in Peace Comrade Daniel. We love you and we always will.
