April 21st, 2018(Nyamilepedia) —– South Sudan’s newly created Torit State mourns the passing of the State Director General of Finance and Public Service, Hon Alfred Kayumba Tugul.
Late Kayumba, described by his close colleagues and family members as humble, charismatic and a man of the people, passed on at dawn on Thursday, April 19th, 2018.
“It’s sad to hear the death of my boss, the Torit State Director General of Finance and Public Service Mr. Alfred Kayumba Tugul. Rest in peace brother. My condolence to all Lango community and to all family members.” Said Okello Jimmy.
“A dark moment in our history has befallen the Lango community. We have lost a champion of peace and development. A man of vision and charisma. May you RIP brother and to the community, please pray and let us promote his good deeds in our society and in our lives. God protect all the Lango; God protect Lorwama community.” Said Khalu Steve (Steve Olonga).
Late Kayumba is well remembered by those who interacted with him firsthand for his hard work and humility.
“R. I. P Uncle Alfred Kayumba, a very polite, kind hearted, and hard working civil servant. This is a great lost to Eastern Equatoria as a whole!” Said Betty Angasi
According to Emmanuel Sadiq James, who shared his past memories of late Kayumba, the late DG was a man of people and someone reliable.
“RIP, we have lost one of the most importance brain worker in the state , Kayumba was considered to be of the best DG heading the ministry of Finance , in my First interaction with Kayumba in 2012 while serving as the Secretary in the office of Hon. Commissipner of Ikotos , he was man of People , some one you can easily trust” Said Emmanuel Sadiq James
“It’s really very painful to me brother. Morever this is the only bright eye of Lorwama Lango community. Now that the creator of all universe has taken him away, where are we going to get some one like him? Hon minister, AFRIED KAYUMBA TUGUL, I pray may almighty father rests your soul in peace. I’m going to miss discussions with you forever so and so painful oh why are punishing our community,walai my oh my GOD?” Said another mourner, Losidi Gax Gabriel
Late Kayumba served as Director General of Finance for almost 10 years since 2009. He was the first and the last Director General of Finance and Public Service for Eastern Equatoria State. When Eastern Equatoria was divided into smaller political states, Kayumba served as the only Director General for Imatong State before the state was renamed to Torit State. He continued on as the Director General of Finance and Public Service for Torit State until his death two days ago.
According to his supporters and relatives, who gathered in Torit yesterday, Kayumba’s passing is a big lost to his immediate family, Lango community, Torit and Eastern Equatoria as a whole.
