South Sudan Lost a Prominent Politician in Norway
April 21st, 2018(Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan has lost another prominent politician and writer, late Honorable Daniel Wuor Joak, in Oslo, Norway.
Late Hon. Wuor Joak, a former Member of Parliament and Minister of Education in former Upper Nile State, passed away yesterday in Oslo, Norway.
According to his family and close friends, late Wuor Joak succumbed to a liver cancer after a long battle.
At the time of his passing, Wuor was an SPLM/A(IO) ambassador to the Scandinavia countries of Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway and was based in Norwegian capital of Olso where he and his family have resided for many years.
Sending his condolences, the SPLM/A(IO) leader, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, described Daniel Wuor Joak as a veteran of the liberation and the independent of South Sudan.
“Cde Daniel Wuor Joak has been the SPLM/A(IO) Representative to Scandinavian countries. He has been a staunch supporter of Self Determination and Independence for people of South Sudan” Said Dr. Riek Machar Teny.
“He is a veteran of liberation and Independence of South Sudan. He was also a strong mouthpiece in the current struggle for reforms and federalism in South Sudan” He added.
Machar recognizes late Wuor Joak’s contribution in diplomatic mission and emphasizes that he shall be missed by South Sudanese people.
“He successfully fought diplomatic battles and popularized the cause of the people of South Sudan in Scandinavia.” Machar said.
“Cde Daniel Wuor Joak leaves a big void in our diplomatic work. We mourn and grieve for this great lost. He shall be missed not only by his family but all of us. May God rests his soul in peace” He continued.
Late Daniel Wuor Joak has authored many articles and book on South Sudan. He is well remembered for his most popular book titled “The Rise and Fall of SPLM/A leadership”
Late Wuor Joak was also an executive director of African Centre for Human Advocacy(ACHA).
While battling cancer, the late was constantly writing and advocating for peace in South Sudan. He died writing his last book titled “SOUTH SUDAN: Truth must be told”.
