SPLA Killed Civilians in Yei River County
Jan 29, 2017(Nyamilepedia) —— South Sudan government forces in Yei River County killed at least 5 civilians yesterdat at the outskirts of Yei town.
The killing which happened in the late afternoon began when SPLA-IG in Yei received reports that SPLA-IO have opened a training camp a few kilometres away from Yei town centre. The soldiers organized themselves to go and attack the SPLA-IO training camp.

According to local residents, the soldiers asked one of the messengers, a teenage boy, to lead them to SPLA-IO training site.
Before they arrived, several hours later, the rebels have finished their training and deserted the camp.
Although the soldiers found evidence of rebel activities, they turned their anger on the boy and killed him. Three other civilians nearby were also killed.
While retreating to Yei town, four other civilians were randomly short at and killed by the soldiers at Jansuk, 4 miles away from Yei town.
One of the civilians killed was identified as Mr. Yokwe, a businessman who fled Yei town late last year. The other three were children and their mother.
The militias tried to scare off local residents to vacate the area or else they would be suspected or termed as rebels.
Yei River County, which has been the centre of war in Equatoria, has more than two rebel divisions mostly along the routes linking Yei to Juba and other majors.
The government has also been accused this week of killing civilians in Kajo-Keji and other areas.
In other reports, Salva Kiir government calls on African Unions and International Partners to delay establishment of the US-backed Hybrid Court.
Michael Makuei Lueth, the Minister of Information and government spokesman, threatens that anybody calling for transitional justice is not interested in peace implementation but war and more atrocities.
He said the government minister for justice, who is attending AU submit in Addis Ababa, will not participate in any discussions that are related to establishment of the proposed Hybrid Court to enhance Justice and Accountability in South Sudan.
