He added that “I therefore I assure those who are not in South Sudan, since the security elements are empowered by the security act to arrest and kill any person and whoever against current regime or is suspected of to be an SPLA-IO that thousands of people have either been killed using a gun or slaughtered like goats and thrown into river and burnt to flames.”
The Dep. governor added that “the security forces killed a woman who was dressed in a Church uniform in Lainya County in Yei River state nearby the local church.”
A Catholic Cathedral in Lainya was also burned down by the same Dinka militias, branded as security forces in South Sudan..
“For this reason and more other not mentioned, I therefore tendered my resignation as a Deputy Governor of Yei River state from this day, and I have now decided to join SPLA –IO under Leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny ” the Former Deputy Governor said.
Wani stated that since those in power only understand the language of killing, therefore let us joined our hands together to change the regime.
In his press release, the Former Deputy Governor narrates of events which forced him to resigned from his position as Deputy Governor of Yei River State.
“One of the worse was in 2015 to 2016 when ten states were made to be twenty – eight states, to my dismay I was appointed as Deputy to junior officer who is their puppet. Not only that there was an attempt to kill me on a Sunday while I was going for prayer, I am quite sure that this was done by Yei River state leadership with the knowledge of their superiors,” He said.
Wani added that “in any army where I was one of the most senior officers, promotions were done on tribal bases; those of us who really fought from South Sudan to Eastern Sudan remained with those ranks we got from 2004-2005 until today while junior officers were promoted above their seniors”.
“In 2004 we signed CPA in Nairobi, Kenya, we though that everybody will be free like other nations, this never happened instead of building a diverse country, the Jieng Council of Elders came up with their owns tribal system of ruling the country which is not found on earth at all,” Wani concluded.
Following the outbreak of the conflict in July this year, at least two deputy governors and many senior government officials have defected to SPLM/SPLA-IO in Equatoria, Western Bhar el Ghazal and also in Upper Nile State.
The SPLM/SPLA-IO leadership is also struggling to rescue or sideline some of their senior politicians who are stranded in Juba or defected to the government after the fighting broke out last month.
