The SPLM-IO Political Bureau Disrgarded Dr. Machar’s Security Observations In Pagak
In 1818 a German great philosopher Karl Marx said “history repeats itself”. Wasn’t Dr. Riek Machar first betrayed by the I.O Political Bureau meeting at Pagak and “NOT” Taban Deng Gai who is rescuing the situation?
The Bible says “That which shall hath been is that which shall be, and that which shall hath been done is that which shall be done, and there is no new thing under the Sun” ECCL.1:19.11:
By John Juan Dong
August 31, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —— At Pagak, the months of November and December 2015 were busy full of conferences in preparations for the creation of an important group called “Advance Team” to be selected from the SPLM/I.O and to be dispatched to Juba. Of course the decision making-process depends on the key organ of the party which is the “POLITICAL BUREAU”. But how did the Political Bureau violated the strong and important security observations from the heart of their former party leader, Dr. Riek Machar? Machar gave four convincing conditions for which if not resolved by the government in Juba no advance team should enter Juba. These were strong life reasoning from a political and military leader of opposition party. However, these four conditions were discussed and unfortunately dishonored:
- To dismiss by the presidential decree the accusations and suspicions against Dr. Riek of waging a coup on the 15th of Dec.2013 that culminated into the wide spread traditional war. The Political Bureau ought to seek a presidential decree to safeguard Riek Machar. This would have erased the security threat or attempt before I. O and Dr. Riek arrived in Juba.
- To Lift the state of emergency by a presidential decree
- To cancel the 28 states created in November 2015 after three months from peace agreement on the 7th of August 2015 in Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia.
- Military cantonment & demilitarization of Juba town, Unity state, Upper Nile and Jungli.
Surprisingly, on the first Week of December 2015 the political Bureau convened disregarded these serious security observations that were expressed by their Chairman. Instead they anonymously turned their backs against their leader’s remarks. Consequently, Riek diplomatically remained quiet but observantly apprehensively at them with invisible censure at heart.

Were they in a hurry to come to Juba? They immediately selected the Vice Chairman Lado Gore to lead the Advance team, who then surrendered the task to Bulldozer, General Taban Debg Gai the Peace Chief Negotiator. The question now is; who caused the tragedy – General Taban or the Political Bureau members who dishonored the observation conditions of their Chairman’s future?
See how the consequence is, even one of the generals who is hypothetically supposed to accompany his commanding IN-Chief is now dividing and stunningly dividing SPLM/I.O of Liege State inside his residence in Juba UNNIMISS Camp into who is for Dr. Riek and who is for Gen. Taban, County by County. This taxonomy was shockingly discovered yesterday the 24th of August of Nyamilepaedia. The question remains is the I.O Divided or divided in UNNIMISS Camps? Rationally, there is no qualified and patriotic leadership of a movement that categorizes its citizens into grouping even though they belong to different parties just because to gain political position when the movement is seeking for unity and popularity. General Ruai Kuol intentionally or otherwise, is fueling the political suffering of Dr. Riek and the people of South Sudan at large. “Peace is spirit of God”. It is God Himself. It is not seen as no devil sees God, but devil sees us because we are sinners. But God observes them. Peace is with “Man” in creation and goes along with him throughout his life style though he may not be aware of it. Could anyone including that general knows what kept Riek alive? His righteousness and the confession he made before the Alter before God in Pagak on Christmas Prayers of 2015 about the disregarded position put God’s mercy into him. The Peace in Juba today is for all and not for specific group or race as Taban made no revolution. The chance of change is systematically automatic without blood. It is for all southern Sudanese as it is in the IGAAD-PLUS. It is not even for Nuers or Dinkas, nor for Shiluk and Anyuak, neither for Equatorians and Bhr-elghazal citizens. This is the end of political waves in south Sudan. It is far from envy, personality and from greedy. But its home for unity of South Sudan forces to be named South Sudan National Force (SSNF), to be loyal to the country and people to respect them. Garang left us for peace and the SPLM/SPLA is still being remembered. Twisting and turning it around, like DC, I.O is like “putting old wine into new bottles”. SSNF shall still remember the movement and without ANYANYA-1 or the first movement we started there is no SPLM/SPLA.
Dr. Riek having left with no option, had to truly and publicly declare his fate before Christian believers on Christmas Day the 25th of December 2015 at Pagak, that his observations were defeated, dishonored, not respected by his political bureau. And as a result the 28 states Governors were appointed upon the arrival of the advance team to Juba on the 11th instance.
Now who should be blamed, Taban or the political Bureau that rejected the 4 observations? Aren’t some of the figures in political bureau Nuer elders who are supposed to support Riek? Had they respected the conditions of former I.O Chairman no war would have been fought at J1 as no huge number of deaths from both sides would have been lost? The young ones from both sides were all southern Sudanese future young generation? Now how would they face Dr. Riek whose plan they dishonored? What message will they really tell him? Contrary, may be as I know Riek, he will just peep at them.
It’s on record that when the furious fight broke out at J.1, the Presidential Palace, between SPLM/SPLA I.O bodyguards of Dr. Riek Machar and the bodyguards of President Kiir, this fight spread into war in the capital city and the suburb of Juba. It never stopped until when the I.O Political Bureau in Juba sat under the Chairmanship of the Vice former Chairman of Dr. Riek Machar, Hon. Lado Gorey who himself immediately gave up the Chair to Gen. Taban Deng Gai who in turn courageously declared the continuation and the implementation of peace agreement under the TGoNU, and under the chairmanship of President General Salva Kiir Mayardit as indicated to the agreement. Because the I.O leadership in Juba declared the continuation of peace agreement as scheduled, President Kiir also announced seize fire and immediately the war stopped and Dr. Riek was given allowance of time to come to Juba as Article 6:4 of IGAAD-PLUS indicates. Now who is to be blamed, Taban who rescued the situation or the Political Bureau that dishonored Riek 4 Conditions? Supposed Taban never came up with such a declaration what was going to happen? Shall there be peace now? This question is left to wise historians who follow up events to give the correct answer. It is particularly left to those who never witnessed the scene and living peacefully in Khartoum, Nairobi, Kampala, Addis-Ababa and abroad. Peace was going to collapse totally. And if peace collapsed who was going to be blamed, Taban or the political bureau that refused the condition?
At that moment when Gen.Taban declared the continuation of peace agreement to save peace and lives of people, we thought those political Bureau members, ministers and I.O individuals who were cut off in Nairobi, or in foreign countries were supposed to come out in support for the continuation of peace in order to pave way for Dr. Riek to come back as Gen. Taban and President Kiir declared. This in my opinion would have been the wise way around for the coming back of Machar. Instead some scampered to UNIMISS and the neighboring countries. Surprisingly, while there, individuals became press reporters and spokespersons on their own! Moreover, they embarked on the mission of spread insults in the most inappropriate manner of regaining power in South Sudan nowadays. Upon Taban’s declaration of IGAAD-PLUS and the Transitional Government of National Unity (TGoNU) to be continued and execute the agreement, President Kiir never hesitated but immediately responded that he will implement the Peace Agreement as it is signed. Then what else do we the I.O need if the president honors the IGAAD Agreement?
Does this end of political waves? Does anyone know when will the Nile waves rest or stop? Waves are always geared by wind with spirit of God of life in them. However, when it rests man drinks from it freely and fish enjoys nature with secure free movements. Gen Taban Deng has been the right hand of Dr. Riek serving with honesty and diligence for over 25 years as well as bearing the burden and suffering being the Chief negotiator for over 3 years. As a true statesman, he served without showing any precursor of egocentrism to Dr. Riek Machar. His assets were the I.O human facilities. One wonders what happened to I.O leadership when appointing its cabinet and hierarchy. The answer is left to former Political Bureau.
The New first Vice President Taban Deng Gai from the waves of the Nile is not a new political figure who needs to be highlighted. His national character and humanity is undoubted to every southern Sudanese. He is far from tribalism and nepotism, greedy of power and envy. His liberal mindedness and emotional intelligence is unquestionable. As a national figure he has desired and strived for unity of all Southern Sudanese fighters with a dream of a dependable South Sudan National Forces (SSNF).
Dr. John Garang left a peaceful SPLM/SPLA. It’s twisting to I.O or DC still shares the same honor. SSNF shall internationally dignify our country and boost it among world community. More prominently without Anya-Nya-1, the first movement 1947-1972 there is no SPLA. By judgment be SSNF is a must be.
Finally, John 13:11 says – For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said, “Not all of you are clean.”
