South Sudan Government Soldiers Burned Down Catholic Cathedral In Lafon
August 18, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —–During the latest round of violence in and around Juba, government soldiers burned down a catholic church in Lafon.
Condemning immoralities and war crimes carried out by the government soldiers, Bishop Laku said majority of South Sudanese are living in total fear including government officials.
The Bishop reiterates that over 75% of government officials are appointed by the president and his inner circle and therefore they do not represent or speak for the people.

Bishop Laku said many people who are now in the camps are seeking refuge for their own safety from their own government.
Asked of why he is speaking out in Juba and whether he fears for his own life, he said his life is not more important than the lives of thousands who have been molestered, killed and their property destroyed by the regime in power.
Although many politicians have been attending masses at Kator Cathedral in Juba, Bishop Laku always stands for what he believes is right.
On the regional intervention, he said the IGAD-Plus and the UNSC have now realized their responsibility although they are a bit late.
He strongly stressed that South Sudan government has failed to protect its own people and left all responsibility on the shoulders of the United Nations and therefore UNSC has a right to impose decisions on South Sudan to save lives.
