August 1, 2016(Nyamilepedia) ——- On Thursday, August 11, at 9:00am, members of the South Sudanese community in the Diaspora will hold a rally outside the U.N. Headquarters on 43rd St. and First Avenue, Isaiah Wall, in support of the deployment of United Nations and regional forces in South Sudan.

Violence around the country and particularly recent attacks in Juba has claimed the lives of hundreds and displaced tens of thousands of civilians.  In Juba, the U.N. Protection of Civilian compound was attacked killing civilians and U.N. workers. The World Food Program storage was looted, denying thousands of the much needed humanitarian relief. In recent weeks there has been rise in civilian killings, arbitrary arrests, looting, and raping and gang raping of women. For of all these reasons, there is an urgency for the South Sudanese to raise their voices to end the violence.

Led by an alliance of South Sudanese community and civic organizations, academics, and human rights activists, the objectives of the rally are to urge the UNSC to endorse the IGAD/AU proposal on a third force; to deploy an additional U.N. force of well buy cheap valtrex 500mg trained, well equipped, well led and with proper mandate and clear chain of command; to end the violence; and reviving the implementation of the Agreement for the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan (ARCISS).

The situation is urgent.  An effective force is required to protect civilians from abuse, allow for distribution of humanitarian aid, and prevent further descent into chaos. In the words of US Ambassador Samantha Power, “We have to get this right but it also must be done with great urgency. Let us not be fooled into believing that time is on our side. It is not. Events in recent weeks have demonstrated how quickly violence can re-ignite and how devastating are the human consequences when it does”.

South Sudanese are appealing to the world community that the time for condemnation has passed: the time for action and accountability is at hand. People of South Sudan have suffered enough and time has come for brothers and sisters in the region to get involved and save the young nation and the peace agreement that has being signed.  Those who are holding South Sudanese civilians hostages must be held accountable.

We are calling on all people of conscience to rally with us.

Great idea, and all Africans need to be in New York. It will be great to let the world know that both leaders are not for the interest of South Sudan. They (Kiir and Machar) need to resign and let others take the lead. Their time is up and they failed the country, the people and the international community.

This is a very good step towards realizing and achieving the change. It has been said “Rome was not build in a day” and “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”

This also will show the whole World that the South Sudanese have a say in their future, it should not be always the international community proposing solutions on behalf of the South Sudanese. I totally support the idea and urge all South Sudanese in diaspora to follow suit.
