July 24, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —– In response to a controversial nomination of General Taban Deng Gai, the former Chief negotiator and Minister of Mining on SPLM/SPLA(IO) ticket, the Political Bureau of SPLM/SPLA in Opposition has categorically denied to acknowledge the results of Crown Hotel incident.

According to Manawa Peter Gatkuoth Gual, the Deputy Chairperson of National Committee for Information and Public Relation, the appointment of Taban is not recognized by the political bureau and the leadership of SPLM in Opposition.

“Yes, it is illegal. In fact it is a coup and a coup within SPLM/SPLA (IO)” Professor Adwok Nyaba said on Al Jazeera’s inside story.

Manawa said the meeting involved only 5 members out 23 senior cadres of Political Bureau ,and some of the five coerced to appear in the meeting under pressure from President Kiir’s “unknown gunmen”, a report Professor Adwok Nyaba strongly reiterates.

The political bureau strongly condemns the disgruntled groups for attempting an “internal coup” in a conspiracy scheme against the First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny.

“The SPLM/SPLA(IO) condemns in the strongest terms possible the attempts to destablized the SPM/SPLA (IO) and destroy the IGAD brokered peace agreement on resolution of the conflict in South Sudan(ARCISS) spearheaded by Taban Deng Gai out of personal vendata against Dr. Riek Machar”. Manawa states

Manawa believes that Taban was disgruntled because Dr. Machar refused to appoint him as the Minister of Petroleum in the Transitional Government of National Unity.

According to Professor Peter Adwok Nyaba, the Minister of Higher Education in the Transitional Government, Taban has been conspiring against Dr. Riek Machar and the party since December 2015.

Dr. Adwok, who is also a member of SPLM/SPLA-IO political bureau, concludes that the appointment of Taban by just 5 of his colleagues is illegal and in fact a “coup” that ought to be punished by the movement.

In response to Taban’s action, Dr. Riek Machar whose forces continue to battle Mr. Kiir’s forces pursuing him, has issued an order dismissing Gen. Taban from the party and calling on Salva Kiir to relieve him from the Ministry of mining.

The government, however, seems to be in good relationship with Gen. Taban and may instead go ahead to bless him as the new First Vice President despite the ongoing fighting between the rival forces outside Juba.

In his speeches, Taban has accepted the controversial nomimation despite sharp objection from both the military and political wings of the SPLM/SPLA and said he will soon declare himself as the Chairman and the commander in chief of SPLM/SPLA-IO.

To Salva Kiir supporters, who have given up on Dr. Riek Machar, Taban is more than a hero. Many government supporters and soldiers attended the controversial meeting to endorse comrade Taban at the Crown Hotel in Juba.

According to Manawa Peter Gatkuoth, the scheme to oust the First Vice President was hatched by President Salva Kiir, his chief of General Staff, Gen. Paul Malong Awan and the Jieng Council of Elders to overthrow Machar from SPLM/SPLA-IO.

“Dr. Riek Machar is out of Juba not by his own choice that instead of offering solidarity and support, and support the group is conspiring to oust him. This fit into the grand scheme hatched by President Salva Kiir and the Jieng Council of Elders” Gatkuoth said.

Although the disgruntled group quotes the Compromised Peace Agreement as the basis for their prompt action, the ARCISS document does not provide for what should be done if either of the principles militarily oust his opponent.

Machar believes that this was a scheme to assassinate him and his senior officers and he will not return to the capital until a third party force is deployed in the capital to prevent further fighting.

Seven(7) of the 12 Ministers and Deputies are still in hiding within Juba and outside the country fearing their lives and intimidation to endorse important decisions against their wills.

Akuei Ajou,

Like the jienge so it is with the nyaggat. Just behaving as if they had the mad-cow disease. Inconsistent, easily corruptible, little brains and hopeless lot, who think much with their stomachs than with their heads. Sad that most of you jienges share human features with us Equatorians, while indeed you´re simply tailless monkeys.

Taban is not really even expected to accept this position. but if he does, the movement will be stronger than before because he has been an obstacle for long

Well,Mr Taban Deng Gai has a right to decide what is good for by himself. But also, Dr Riek has the token to release Taban since he (Dr Riek)as A Chair man of the movement.

General Taban is rightly placed. Riak should wait for elections since he does not want peace to come to south sudan. Can’t imagine him running From the capital and immediately changes his contact. Tactically aimed at avoiding contact with his boss. He is not a leader but a mere boss.

Dr Machar and the IO leadership saw the masses of nuer men woman and children killed by Kiir as a call to arms, Taban saw it as a stepping stone to power and money.
IO stands for a wish for justice and peace, Taban only for greed and treason.
Who can work with such a spineless man, a turncoat ready to sacrifice his own brother without hesitation for a few hundred dollars.
