July 19, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —— Latest reports from South Sudan capital, Juba, indicate that the forces of President Salva Kiir have began major offensives on Machar’s SPLA forces outside the capital.
According to Machar’s Press Secretary, James Gatdet Dak, President Kiir’s SPLA faction has violated the Cease fire declaration made by the two leaders on July 11, 2016, last week.
“President Salva Kiir’s forces have violated the cessation of hostilities declared on July 11, 2016. They are on offensive against SPLA-IO.” Gatdet said.
The attack happened a few minutes ago despite president Salva Kiir’s controversial calls for Dr. Riek Machar to return to meet him in the capital.
The First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, believes that the fight which began at the state house on July 8th was designed by Kiir’s side to eliminate him.
Machar and his forces evacuated the capital on July 12 to avoid further confrontation with Kiir’s side after 5 days of constant fighting in the capital
The First Vice President warns that he won’t return to the capital until a buffer zone is established to prevent further fighting between the two forces and until the rest of his troops agreed in the peace agreement are brought to Juba
