UPDF’s Plan To Return To South Sudan
May 19, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —- A reliable source in Gulu, Uganda said that the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) fabricated a story to the Sudan People’s Liberation Army of Juba (SPLA) Liaison Office in Gulu, the border town of South Sudan and Uganda, that Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) kidnaped 20 people of Uganda citizens.
The UPDF forces said they would pursue the kidnapers inside South Sudan territory to rescue their citizens. However, the source confirmed that UPDF made this fabrication as a reason to return to South Sudan, believing that the government of the Republic of South Sudan is expected to have hatched this evil plan. There was no any single citizen of Uganda kidnaped by SPLA-IO. The forces of the SPLM/A in Opposition never involved in any kind of such an evil activities of kidnaping civilians in South Sudan, let alone doing it in Ugandan. It is appalling that President Salva Kiir and his ally Uganda still engage in planning another genocide, says anonymous South Sudan concerned citizen who doesn’t want the return of UPDF.
“We call up on International Community specially the IGAD, UN, JMEC, Troika and the African Union to stop this unfortunate action of Uganda to allow the parties to implement of peace agreement which was signed in 2015,” appeals the witness who didn’t want to be named due to his fear of his life in Uganda.
President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda is seen to have mended fence with SPLM/A-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon; Machar’s visit to Uganda in a surprising meeting with Museveni in early this year is the case in point. UPDF forces are reported to have been withdrawn from Greater Upper Nile except in Western Equatoria state where they were allowed to pursue LRA even before the conflict started but confidential reports real something opposite.
