May 03, 2016 (Nyamilepedia) —- We in the leadership of Nuer Community in the Republic of Uganda would like to take this opportune moment to welcome, first, the arrival of First Vice President (FVP) of the Republic of South Sudan, H.E Dr. Riek Machar Teny, the Commander in Chief (C in C) of the Sudan People Liberation Movement [army] in Opposition (SPLM/A-IO) to Juba and congratulate him upon his sequent taking of the oath to the office of First Vice presidency.

The entire Nuer Community leadership in Uganda has commended the leadership of the SPLM/A-IO for the patriotic steps well taken to ensure that peace prevails and indeed reaches all South Sudanese at different parts of the country. Special votes of thanks in particular go to H.E Dr. Riek Machar Teny for his able decision to reach this fruitful point in time in peace implementation.

Second, the leadership of Nuer Community in the Republic of Uganda has also acknowledged and welcomed the formation of the Transition Government of National Unity (TGoNU) and also equally commended the two main SPLM/A factions, namely; (i) SPLM/A-IO under the leadership of H.E Dr. Machar Teny and (ii) the SPLM/A-IG (In Government) under the leadership of H.E President Salva Kiir and other stakeholders and partners to the peace for putting South Sudan first before and above their respective individuals’ interests.

We congratulate all the appointed ministers and deputy ministers upon their appointments and for winning trust of the country top leadership to serve South Sudanese diligently.

We as Nuer Community in the Republic of Uganda, however, still call on the both parties to the peace to go ahead and continue with the implementation of the pact in the interim arrangement both in letter and spirit in utmost good faith. We also call on SPLM/A-IG with much concern and its leadership to keep and maintain their positions firm in regards to implementation modalities of the peace.

Last, we would also like to thank the International Community for standing with South Sudan for the last 22 or so months of war since December 15, 2013. The supports given to South Sudan in various fronts, we want to acknowledge that it is what gave birth to peace today. The Troika, IGAD and AU among many other peace partners and friends to South Sudan have done enough for the peace to prevail and we still call on them to monitor with keenness the implementation programs of the peace in South Sudan.
Let the peace triumphs.
