According to his family members Governor Bakosoro looks so pale and weak compared to days before his detention, however, his family members are happy that he was eventually released.

““He looks so pale compared to the time when he was still at home, he is very weak” said sister Dudu Bakosoro.

“We don’t know even how to express our happiness to the world, people of South Sudan, to the government, to the international community, to those in diaspora, to the church leaders and to everyone,” Ms Bakosoro continued.

Bakosoro was arrested after he was sacked by President Salva Kiir in December 2015, an incident critics compared to the incident of December 2013 that led to two and half years civil war.

The former governor was arrested on December 22nd 2015 but was never charge for any crime.

His supporters believe that he was arrested for opposing Salva Kiir government and for speeches he made against Dinka pastoralists in his state.

Governor Bakosoro and other inmates including a University Professor, Dr Leonzio Angole Onek, the Dean of the Applied and Industrial Science at University of Juba were released on Monday this week.

Like Bakosoro, Dr. Leonzio said he was released because of his deteriorating health.

The University professor was arrested on December 7 2015, and like others, he was also not charge for any crime.

Their release coincide with the return of Dr. Riek Machar Teny, the First Vice President, and the formation of a new Transitional Government of National Unity.

Many citizens and organizations like Amnesty International called on the government of Salva Kiir to release or charge the inmates who were detained and kept in prisons for months and years.
