Gaatjaak Peace Advocates In USA Condemns Killing Of Civilians In Gambella
GPAI-USA Press Release on Gambella Killings
April 20, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —– Gaatjaak Peace & Advocacy International (GPAI) in the United States, would like to express its profound sadness and sorrow to the killings of more than 200 innocent civilians, and the abduction of 108 Gaatjaak women and children in Nuer zoon Gambella, Ethiopia on the 15th April, 2016 by Murle culprits from South Sudan. Gaatjaak in the Diaspora condemned in the strongest term possible the attack that killed our innocent women and children. This cowardice act of aggression by the Murle to terrorize Nuer community or Gaatjaak in particular shall not be condoned. We appealed to both Ethiopia and South Sudan governments to fully investigate and bring these culprits to book. Gaatjaak will do everything in their power to ensure their innocent women and children did not die in vain.
- We demand the Ethiopian government to take action and bring back our women and children abducted by the Murle and the 2,000 head cattle taken by the Murle.
- We demand the Ethiopia government to pursue the killers wherever they might be hiding, whether they based in South Sudan or in the Ethiopian territory.
- We demand the government of South Sudan to cooperate with the Ethiopian Authorities to pursue those culprits in the South Sudanese territory
- We demand South Sudan government to explain itself clearly of whether it has knowledge of armed the Murle.
Our thoughts and prayers with victim families affected by this cowardice act by the Murle people. We appeal to the regional government of Gambella particularly President or governor Ato: Gatluak Tut Khot, to do everything in his power to provide humanitarian assistant for injured and families who have lost loved ones. Our hearts and soul with the victim families whose hearts are broken by this tragic incidence.
