SPLM-IO Welcomes Admission Of South Sudan To EAC, Says Mabior
March 03, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —- The leadership of the SPM/SPLA in Opposition has welcomed the admission of the Republic of South Sudan into East African Community as the member of EAC, says Mabior Garang de Mabior, chairman of the national committee for information and public relations in SPLM/SPLA in Opposition.
In a press statement extended to Nyamilepedia, Mabior says that the inclusion of Republic of South Sudan into EAC was stated in the Communique of the 17th Ordinary of the EAC heads of state held in Arusha, Tanzania on March 2, 2016; further alleging that South Sudanese people have a lot in common with sisterly countries of EAC history and the admission of the Republic of South Sudan is in harmony with this historical experience. Mabior assures that the inclusion of South Sudan to EAC will help the people of South Sudan to involve in the decision making and shall help in the process of sensitizing the civil population about the benefit of the unity with EAC.
This week, South Sudan joined Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, and Rwanda in the East African Community (EAC), adding the membership of the common market to six states with a population of 162 million people.
On the implementation of the peace agreement, Mabior asserts that SPLM-IO is committed to implement the agreement signed in August 2015 but blames President Salva Kiir and his hardliners for lack of commitment to the agreement, instead they implement the unwanted Establishment Order 36, 2015 contrary to people’s views.
“The SPLM/SPLA (in Opposition) would like to take this opportunity to ensure the people of South Sudan, the region and the world of our continued commitment to the full implementation of Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (ARCISS). The Movement; however, express concerned by the disregard shown by the hardliners in the Salva Kiir Administration who are instead implementing the Establishment Order36/2015 (also known as 28 states); ignoring the Communique of the 55th Extra-Ordinary Session of the IGAD Council of Ministers; held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, January 30-31, 2016,” states Mabior in his statement.
Chairman of the national committee for information and public relations in SPLM/SPLA in Opposition dismisses rumors making hits on social media that SPLM-IO is obstacle to implementation of peace agreement, he instead accuses the other side to the conflict of being obstacle to peace agreement.
“The Establishment Order 36/2015 is currently the obstacle to the implementation to peace in the Republic of South Sudan as demonstrated in recent clashes in Western Bahrgazal State, the targeting of innocent civilians in Protection of Civilian (PoC) Camps in Malakal, and the sporadic clashes in the States of Equatoria,” he states.
