Dec 25, 2015 (Nyamilepedia) —- South Sudan Armed Forces/Federal Democratic Party, a group that broke away from SPLM-IO, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of South Sudan in Nairobi, Kenya on 24th December 2015.
In a Press Statement extended to Nyamilepedia by SSAF/FDP official spokesperson Brig Gen. Dhoal Larjin says the Memorandum of Understanding signed in a press conference held in Kenya’s Intercontinental Hotel will make the two parties proceed with peace to end the civil war and grievances. The Press Statement stresses agreement is witnessed by a number of IGAD member countries and international communities at the Intercontinental Hotel in Nairobi.
“The two sides recognize the comprise peace agreement signed August 2015 between SPLM-IO and the GRSS. It is the comprehensive peace that will address all the root causes of the civil war,” said Gen Dhoal Larjin.
Dhoal Larjin in his signed statement claims that SSAF/FDP and GRSS discussed and solved many issues that the Government of South Sudan will further negotiate with the group and make trust building for the sake of achieving a just peace. The parties to the agreement will make press releases on this peace initiatives.
“We agree that the advanced team of the SSAF/FDP shall arrive in Juba on December 30, 2015. We are going to negotiate and resolve holistic issues with GRSS.”
“The leadership of SSAF/FDP under Gen Peter Gatdet Yak declare that there shall be a mutual understanding between GRSS and the SSAF/FDP. We want to inform the public that SSAF/ FDP is willing to resolve any outstanding between GRSS and the SSAF/FDP,” reads part of the statement.
The leadership of SSAF/FDP previously accused the SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar for dictatorial tendencies in the Movement and denounced the Agreement on the Resolution on the Conflict in South Sudan (ARCISS) signed in August 2015 describing ARCISS as “an imposed peace that is designed to hoodwink the people of South Sudan and the world”.
Principals to the Agreement
In the signed MoU, Gen Gathoth GatKuoth Hothnyang represented SSAF/FDP whereas Presidential advisor for Security Mr. Tut Gatluak Nimni represented the Government of South Sudan.
“President Kiir is serious to bring peace to all of us, now for us on behalf of our people, this Memorandum of Understanding is the way forward to start negotiations,” Gen Gatkuoth clarified.
On his part, Mr. Tut Gatluak said, “The agreement will bring about lasting peace and stability to the republic of South Sudan.”
In the course of this week, 1st Lt. Gen. Gatdet established the Military Council of his new rebel Movement, South Sudan Armed Forces (SSAF) and its political wing, Federal Democratic Party (FDP) called himself Provisional Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of SSAF/FDP.
As the Chairman and Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of the Movement, Gen Gatdet promoted Major General Gabriel Tanginye, Major General Gathoth Gatkuoth and Brigadier General James Malith Gatluak to rank of Lieutenant Generals.
