SPLM/A -IO Call on the Citizens of Warrap to Avoid Political Division.
October 14, 2015 (Nyamilepedia)—The leadership of the SPLM/SPLA (IO) is deeply alarmed by the situation unfolding in Warrap State of South Sudan. It has come to the attention of the leadership of the SPLM/SPLA (IO) that the unconstitutional Establishment Order 36/2015 expanding states of South Sudan from 10 to 28, is threatening to unravel the recently signed agreement and make the Republic of South Sudan descend further into the abyss.
The unconstitutional Expansion Order 36/2015, issued without regard to criteria, or consultation of the communities, has led communities to disillusionment manifesting in inter and intra tribal conflicts between the communities in Warrap State of the Republic of South Sudan (namely Luanyjang and Rek Dinka). There is also a similar situation unfolding in Upper Nile State between the Chollo community and the Padang Jieng/Dinka communities.
The leadership of the SPLM/SPLA (IO) call on all the communities in South Sudan (who have lived side by side amicably for centuries) not to allow bad politics to divide them. The call for federalism is the popular will of the people of South Sudan; and the SPLM/SPLA (IO) have reached a compromise (in Addis) with our partners in peace that federalism shall be decided by the people of South Sudan (themselves) in a national constitutional making process.
The leadership of the SPLM/SPLA further call on all the communities in South Sudan to reject this perilous Establishment Order 36/2015, a move spearheaded by (individual) hardliners in the Salva Kiir Administration. The intention of this decree is to further divide the people of South Sudan along ethnic lines, in a futile attempt by a small clique in Juba to hold on to power.
The implementation of the recently signed peace deal provides the best opportunity for the people of South Sudan to restore peace to our country and to participate in an all-inclusive national dialogue in which the people shall determine their social and political future.
