Heavy fighting in Greater Mundri
Sept 22, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — On 16/09/2015 when government force (SPLA) from Maridi arrived Jambo, before asking any question, they shot a police officer who was on duty in Jambo check point and thereafter they started shooting randomly at the civilian.
That followed by arrival of the government forces in the evening from Wonduruba where they have being fighting Pajulu community for days.
Before arriving Jambo center, the forces have started shelling intensively towards Jambo and that scared the civilians in the area and they fled the town leaving it to the army.
The army entered Jambo and stated looting and breaking houses and burning them, so far a list of more then 22 homes in Buagyi was burnt down completely.
Early that same day, the government forces on their way from Mundri to Yeri also shot dead nine people in Mbara two of which were shot on Bodaboda as they were returning to Mundri West from Mapadiet Hospital.
In another incident all on 16,September 2015 the same government forecs entered into the village before Lanyi and shot death a young man who does not even knew what is happening in Jambo.
On 17 September 2015 since morning there was un discrimatively heavy shooting in Mundri West town where tanks and all sorts of the guns in Mundri Barracks were used against civilians.
Between 18- 19, September 2015, Blipham decided to send reinforcement of one brigade which entered Jambo the same day in the evening and had entered the surrounding villages in search of every young men in the area and killing them.
20- 21 September 2015, heavy fighting between the local youths on self defense against the government soldiers intensified between Jambo and Lanyi where in the morning of 21 September 2015, Juba decided to send helicopter gunship to fight against the local youths in O’do, in Lanyi boma, Mundri East County.
The local youths in the areas were then forced to mobilize themselves and fight the government soldiers on defense and to pave ways for their women and children to safety exit the towns such as Jambo, Lanyi, Lui, and Mundri West.
It’s not yet clear why the government of republic of South Sudan which has the responsibility to protect lives of the citizens and their properties stand with out any shame to fight the people of Greater Mundri in particular among other tribes of Equatoria Region.
But much of the reasons to fight the people of Greater Mundri is assumed to be associated with the history of victorious fight the farmers had against dinka cattle keepers in between the year 2005 – 2006.
As many people will be aware, since that fighting ended, there was no peace and reconciliation and healing done between the local community and the cattle keepers who are mainly the relatives of the government officials who send their cattle and relatives to grace and settle forcefully in the ancestral land which is the farm land of Moru people in Greater Mundri.
In addtion to that, in so many forums dinka use to said the people of Greater Mundri stand for Federation and that is something not supported by the dinka and the regime in Juba.
That is because dinka have tested the best of Moru land and they would wish to occupy it forceful if not now but in long run for their settlement.
According to their own assumptions about the people of Greater Mundri, 98% of Moru in particular stand ready in support of federation and that being one of the objectives of SPLM/A IO, they then summarily concluded that all Moru and the entire people of Greater Mundri are all rebels.
Today all civilians have flee the town and tensions remained very higher in all parts of Greater Mundri from Mvolo to Mundri West and East between the local youths and the government SPLA Soldiers because the SPLA Soldiers went wild against the local population.
This evening, the forces which was fighting the local youths from Jambo to Lui have made their ways to Mundri town and it’s yet to be seen what their next plan of actions in the area will be.
The people of Greater Mundri therefore condemned in strongest terms possible the barbaric, unprofessional and inhuman action of the SPLA soldiers in Mundri and that send to Jambo from Juba who have failed to provide security to the local population and rather engage them in fighting, killing youths, women and children, looting, burning their huts and destroying properties.
