August 25, 2015 (Nyamilepedia)—-South Sudanese community, from all walks of life, in the Kingdom of Denmark has seized the moment to congratulate SPLM/A leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny for listening to the voices of South Sudanese people by signing IGAD-Pus Compromise Peace Agreement on 17th August 2015 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

South Sudan has gone through tribulations and traumatizing periods in this conflict where families were eliminated, many hearts were broken, and many limbs were intentionally and brutally cut off by the ruthless regime that suddenly and violently turned against its people in the name of leadership protection.

In the midst of hopelessness, destruction of properties, and unpremeditated arm confrontation the Government instigated; the leadership of the SPLM/A has put smiles on the dark faces by signing Peace Agreement to bring an end to the suffering of South Sudanese people. It would be the shortsightedness of the few who couldn’t be appreciative to Dr. Riek Machar’s historical achievements in sorting out political differences and issues through peaceful compromise.

Here are some historical facts in Machar’s way of chasing peace in harsh environment: As then leader of South Sudan Independence Movement/Army (SSIM/A), he led 6 South Sudanese armed factions into signing 21st April 1997 Khartoum Peace Agreement which later became a foundation stone of 9th January 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement that is comprised mini Agreements.

In similar story, Dr.Riek Machar was applauded by South Sudanese people worldwide when, as the leader of the Sudan People’s Democratic Front and Sudan People’s Defense Force (SPDF), signed historical Nairobi Declaration on 5th January 2003 to merge his SPDF faction and with SPLA (under late founding father Dr. John Garang de Mabior) to have a unified command to further the common objective.

It is in the the best wish of the South Sudanese people here in Denmark to inform the uninformed that it was the great leadership style of Dr. Riek Machar that saved this hate-mongering head Salva Kiir Mayardit from Garang’s jaws in Rumbek conference that took place on November 29 to December 1, 2004.

Again, as the Vice President of the Government of Republic of South Sudan, Dr, Riek Machar managed to convince Lou Nuer angry fighting youth, in the middle of wilderness of Pibor, who were on retaliatory mission to attack Murle fighters on December 29, 2011.

He also led a team including heavy Press that met LRA leader Joseph Kony on 1st August 2006, putting him on record as the highest government official on earth to meet the most notorious LRA leader to negotiate peace with him.

When comes to problem solving, the leader of SPLM/A is the only leader in South Sudan political dynamics who calls spade a spade, not like Salva Kiir who calls the same spade a big spoon.

While the leadership of the People’s Movement, SPLM/A, engages in peaceful settlement of this man-made war in South Sudan, President Salva Kiir Mayardit on the opposite side engages on a wild goose chase; rampantly murdering people whose crimes are their stances for favoring peace. Kiir killed New Nation Newspaper journalist Peter Moi Julius last week just a few days after issuing death threats to local journalists that he would kill them wherever they are in the land.

Yet still, everyone was dumbfounded to learn that Kiir ordered his chief intelligent Marial Nuor to murder South Sudan’s renowned lawyer and leader of United Democratic Front (UDF) Peter A. Sule (R.I.P) and Elias Jada (R.I.P), both were kidnapped in Uganda and executed in South Sudan border, the same way late Gen George Athor Deng and late Maj Thomas Duoth Makuach Mat met their fate.

As the SPLM/A leader pursues peace in Addis Ababa, President Salva Kiir is busy organizing anti-peace rallies in Greater Bahr el Ghazal in what many observers describe as declaration of war on peace.

It’s the best interest of this community to remind President Salva Kiir that he should come to his senses and sign peace because it’s what is best for the people of South Sudan; people run away from war, not from peace. It can be recalled that Kiir assured Secretary of the United States Department, John Kerry, lately that he’s ready to sign peace.

But singing peace during the day and declaring war at night is like reading the Bible during the day and practice witchcraft at night. Why one rallies against what he wants? Salva Kiir is the smiling assassin! South Sudanese community in Denmark cannot conclude without assuring the leadership of the Movement that this wonderful community stands behind his search of sustainable peace in the country.

This humble community wishes the Chairman of SPLM/A Dr. Riek Machar and his newly appointed chairman of National Committee for External Relations Ezekiel lol Gatkuoth (congrats) happy journey in quest of peace.

It takes a courageous mind and heart to stand tall in the middle of turmoil to recognize peace, something SPLM/A leadership has accomplished. Congratulations for taking that courage to sign the IGAD-Plus Peace Agreement for peace to prevail! The members of this society applause SPLM/A team on peace for the great achievement obtained.

It should be noted that there have been number of breakdown of talks on the peace process on several occasions, but courage and desire driven by purpose finally prevail, as John F. Kennedy once said, “Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction”.

Congratulations to Dr. Riek Machar Teny for signing the most awaited peace on 17th August 2015, you have done your part sir.

Mr. Koang Pal Choul Ranley Secretary of Information, South Sudanese Community Esbjerg, Denmark.
