August 25, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan’s president, Mr. Salva Kiir Mayardit, has succumbed to signing the peace agreement that he refused to sign last week in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

According to the latest circulations, Mr. Kiir will sign his part tomorrow, August 26th, during a Mini-summit in Juba, South Sudan.

The summit was to be convened yesterday, however, it was delayed by a meeting between Salva Kiir and his leadership council.

In a “VERY URGENT Note Verbal”,  South Sudan embassy in Addis Ababa informs the special envoy of IGAD countries to attend the signing of the IGAD-plus Compromise Peace Agreement in Juba, tomorrow.

“The Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan in Addis Ababa present its compliment to the office of the Special Envoys for South Sudan(OSESS) and has the honor to inform that tomorrow 26th August 2015, there will be a Mini-Summit in Juba regarding the Proposed IGAD-Plus Peace Agreement where the government of the Republic of South Sudan, in the Interest of peace, is expected to sign the proposed agreement. Accordingly, the Special Envoy are expected to attend this historic event” reads part of the urgent note from the Embassy of South Sudan in Addis Ababa.

According to section 1.12 of the Compromise Peace Agreement, the Transitional Period shall commence 90 days after the signing of the Agreement and the term of office shall be thirty (30) months preceded by ninety (90) days of a Pre-transitional Period.

Sixty(60) days before the end of the Transitional Period, the TGoNU shall hold free and fair elections in order to establish a democratically elected government.

The International Community and Region have protested the unilateral decision by Salva Kiir’s cabinet to extend his term of office without election, arguing that only this Transitional Government of National Unity shall legitimize Salva Kiir’s leadership.

Since July 24th, the government has been protesting “contentious issues” that include demilitarization of the capital cities, consultations between the president and First Vice President on vital issues, and power sharing that invests a lots of powers in the armed opposition, especially in the oil-rich Unity and Upper Nile states.

As per the revised Compromise Peace Agreement(CPA), the TGoNU is expected to oversee renaming of the army from Sudan People Liberation Army(SPLA), and its transformation and amalgamation into National Defense Forces of South Sudan (NDFSS).

The agreement is also expected to oversee Permanent Constitution making process that shall be based on the “Supremacy of the people of South Sudan” as opposed by Salva Kiir leadership in 2013.

The TGoNU will also initiate a Federal and democratic system of government that reflects the character of South Sudan in its various institutions taken together guarantees good governance, constitutionalism, rule of law, human rights, gender equity and affirmative action.

That is good. Still SPLM IO supporters should be vigilant. Becareful of distractors & defectors untill fruits of your sacrifices are implemented on the ground. Dr Riek Machar should not go to Juba untill it is demilitarized. SPLM IO should work for peace whole heartedly but should have PLAN B if salva kiir & museveni want to step out of the peace path. Congratulations SPLM IO leadership & freedom fighters.

If Mr incompetent Slava Kiir signed that paper he has in another way accepted the fact the he is illegitimate in more ways than one. Nuer once again twist your king’s arms into following suit to federalism. Nuer leads and Jaang follow while looting. END OF STORY. Digest that for future references.

IGAD should work hard to implement the signed peace. Putting a signature on paper is not the end of the game. IGAD should have a clear strategy to implement the peace agreement. What will happen if salva kiir started war a week after signing the peace? they should have an answer for that. IGAD should not sleep untill they have come with a clear strategy for everyting in the signed document. Other wise, pressuring the cowboy to sign the peace only will not solve the problem. There is no game here. Who gave salva kiir the right to cause such suffering for the people of south sudan????

What position are you talking about man? These people were in high positions before the conflict. They are going for similar or lower position now. I can tell you how the conflict started my friend. I remember ever thing. Salva kiir tried to behave like museveni in the land of lions. Now, you see what you see. Better to think fairly. I can not deny there can be few position seekers every where but the majority are there for real change for their people. Remember they are giving their life. If riek machar was for position, he could have stopped long before the conflict started but this guy is a real guy who have got alot for south sudan.

Signing the Compromised Peace Agreement (CPA) is easy. The implementation is the most difficult part, unless stringent follow-up (Sign and Implement )with biting teeth and the tools for enforcement are provided by IGAD,STROIKA, UN,AU or the entire international community.

As things stand those who claims that Kiir is a man of peace and that he Kiir is a peace lover are proven wrong. The hypocritical advocates of the slogan “one people, one nation” must stop their lies and not contradict such sound slogan if they cowared to come to the table of the peace agreement and signed because without peace the nation is and will continue to be divided nor will it the people be united as one. Personally, I will reserve my excitement up untill the intrime period of the transitional government is over mainly because I have lost faith in anything these deceptive cowards puts their name on since 80th –from liberation objective ideologies, peaceful coexistent, and unity.
