August 03, 2015(Nyamilepedia) – The Youth and Community in Yambio, Maridi and Mundri in Western Equatoria have released a resolution calling for moving of army barracks outside the town and for immediate withdrawal of government forces from Western Equatoria in order to avoid further clashes.
The resolution seen by Nyamilepedia staff member, says the only way to resolve the current crisis plunging the state, including recent fighting between Arrow-Boys, defectors and government soldiers from division 6, which left 9 people dead from both sides, is to relocate the army barracks.
The resolution calls for withdrawal of all elements of SPLA government soldiers who are from Bahr El Ghazal, and specifically from Dinka tribe.
The community accused Dinka soldiers within the division 6 of attacking civilians and causing destruction of properties and farms in the region.
Fighting in and around Yambio, the capital of Western Equatoria State has left more than 9 people dead including soldiers and youth from both sides.
The fighting broke out last weekend after youth from Yambio accused the army of killing two youth and arresting dozens without any clear justifications.
The youth in Western Equatoria says the dinka soldiers within division 6 will need to leave the state in order for peace to prevail, accusing them of tribally motivated attacks on innocent civilians.
A delegation from Juba arrived in Yambio on Sunday to try to arrest the situation, but sources say the situation remains tense and there have been gunshots since Sunday evening in different parts of Yambio.
The information minister in the state, Hon. Charles Kisanga, has accused some disgruntled soldiers from the SPLA of refusing to respect the resolution of the meeting between officials from Juba, Yambio and the local community to resolve the crisis.
Meanwhile reports say soldiers from Nuer and some parts of Equatoria have been deployed in Yambio by division 6 commander, J.J Okot, in order to act as a neutral force to prevent both sides from fighting.
