According to the spokesman, Maj. Gen. Peter Gatdet and Maj. Gen. Gatoath Gatkuoth are yet to be assigned to new positions.
“Major General Peter Gadet and Major General Gatoath Gatkuoth are yet to receive new assignments, which shall be done at the appropriate time.” Said capt. Mabior Garang.
Mabior further explains that the reshuffle is “purely an administrative exercise” that should not be distorted by the “enemies of peace”.
“This reshuffle is purely an administrative exercise which is normal in any organization, and should not be a source of trepidation for members of the Movement.” Mabior said.
“The SPLM/SPLA remains committed to the Addis Ababa and Arusha initiatives to bring peace to South Sudan, and urges its members to remain focused; and reject the rumor mongering of the enemies of peace.” he adds.
The chairman assures supporters that the movement remains united and committed to both the Addis Ababa peace talks and Arusha initiatives, however, warns the IO community to remain vigilant, not to be swayed by pro-government “social media rumors”.
“The people’s Movement remains united and focused on bringing about fundamental change in the country through the IGAD Peace Process. The claims attributed to some diplomats of the Salva Kiir Administration are nothing but the wishful thinking of people who want to derail the impending peace agreement.” Mabior clarifies.
“the Movement also wishes to take this opportunity to remind members to remain vigilant and not be swayed by rumors from social media outlets. They are only intended to derail the peace which is upon us. The focus of members should be on peace ” He reiterates.
On his social media page, Mabior explains to his fan that Salva Kiir swapped his then Minister of Defense, Gen. John Kong Nyuon, with Jonglei state governor, Gen. Kuol Manyang Juuk and went further to dismiss his Chief of General Staff, Gen. James Hoth Mai and replaced him with Governor Paul Malong Awan against the constitution but none of the generals defected.
“James Hoth remains with no assignment to this date. This did not cause a split in the Administration of Salva Kiir. ” Mabior said.
Mabior reminds the sympathizers and friends to pay no attention to Gordon Buay, a social media ambassador for the regime to Washington-DC.
“sympathizers and friends not to believe the rumors of Ambassadors Gordon Buay and James Morgan. The Chairman has made a simple reshuffle which should not be cause for alarm” He assures.
The Chairman of National Committee for Information reiterates the commitment of the Opposition to the IGAD-led peace talks as the only civil resolution to end the civil war in the country.
“The SPLM/SPLA takes this opportunity to reiterates its position, that, the only civil resolution to the current conflict is a negotiated settlement. And this can be achieved through the IGAD Plus Mechanism which has reached a very advanced stage.” Mabior concludes.
