Battles between Mundari Youth and Members of Kiir’s Presidential guard has rocked the Capital Juba
July 13th, 2015(Nyamilepedia) – Battles broke out in the weekend between Mundari Youth and Presidential guards after a Mundari youth was gunned down by two members of Salva Kiir’s presidential guard after argument at a tea shop in Khor-romula area of the capital Juba according to eye witnesses.
Running battles soon spread to different parts of the capital as more Mundari youth and more soldiers from Kiir’s side joined the fighting.
The fight has left several soldiers dead and injured as observers warned South Sudan was descending into lawlessness.
Fighting continued all day leading to Mundari youth raiding and taking over the South Sudan Police Academy in Rajaf area of Juba.
Further clashes broke out at yesterday around Kunda on Juba-Mundri road, the fighting lefting 7 presidential guards dead and 11 seriously wounded while 2 Mundari youth killed according to sources on the ground in Juba.
A member of the Mundari youth by the name Lado said they capture small arms which is now in their possession, he warned that the Mundari youth will not stop until two conditions are met, one is for the presidential guards which Lado describe as “Mathiang Anyor” to vacate Juba town, their second demand is for the two soldiers who first killed the Mundari youth at the tea shop to be handed over to authorities to face justice.
Meanwhile in a separate incident at the same day another fighting broke out between a soldier from Didinga and members of presidential guards, the didinga soldier who is a member of the South Sudan Police Service was allegedly attacked by the four members of the presidential guards in a bar opened fire and shot dead for of the Presidential guards describes as “Mathiang Anyour” members, more presidential guard soldiers were send to subdue the Didinga soldier but fighting raged on for hours, the ordeal only ended when a Tank was send and killed the Didinga soldier, the Didinga community is calling for an immediate investigation, a member of the community by the name Aropmoi said government is suppose to protect it’s citizens and not be killing them, adding their sons blood will not go in vain.
According to report today the situation is still tense in the capital, Army Helicopters have been reported hovering above the town all day on news that Mundari Youth have been mobilizing outside Juba from Terekeka and Tali areas for an eminent attack on the Capital.
Nyamilepedia is trying to get more information from several fronts on the incidents in the capital Juba which has send resident into a state of fear and shock, the towns streets were deserted by 6pm in the evening yesterday as gunshots was heard across the town and in the outskirts of capitals.
