March 5, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan’s SPLM/SPLA [in Opposition], under the leadership of former Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar, welcomes the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2206(2015) to impose sanctions on individuals, who impede peaceful resolutions to end the conflict in the world’s newest state.

The resolution, which was passed this morning by the former South Sudan ambassador to Washington, Amb. Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth, the current deputy chairperson for External Relations Committee, gives the UN Security Council a green light to impose sanctions and armed embargo to end the conflict and restore stability in South Sudan.

“The SPLM/SPLA Leadership formally welcomes the UN Security Council Resolution 2206(2015) on South Sudan; which lays groundwork for Targetted Sanctions in South Sudan because it is geared towards ending the war and restoring stability to South Sudan and the region”. Amb. Lol Gatkuoth said.

Although the South Sudan ambassador to the United Nations, Amb. Francis Deng believes that sanctions are counterproductive as shown by the government’s delegation in the today’s talks, the opposition believes that the UNSC has acted right at the right time.

“The resolution came at a time when the people of South Sudan are yearning for genuine, comprehensive and sustainable peace with justice and accountability.” Amb. Lol reiterates.

“The resolution sends a clear message to all the stakeholders involved in the IGAD mediated peace process, to discharge their duties and own up to their comprehensive national obligations” Amb. Lol remarks.

The SPLM/SPLA in rebellion calls on the region, under the auspices of IGAD, and the African Union to frame their sanctions, armed embargo and too release the AU commission of inquiry report on South Sudan in order to expedite the peace process.

“We further urge the UN Security Council to discharge their duty of care, in upholding World Peace and Security by compelling the AU to make public their report on atrocities and crimes against humanity, committed in Juba, and other towns from December 2013 and beyond” Amb. Lol emphasizes.

The armed Opposition reiterates their commitment to cooperate with the UNSC resolution to achieve all the issues raised by resolution 2206(2015) for the benefit of South Sudanese people.

“The SPLM/SPLA leadership and with the support of the people of South Sudan is selflessly working to achieve all the issues raised by resolution 2206(2015), which maximize the positive welfare of our people” Read the SPLM/SPLA Press Briefing.

“The SPLM/SPLA is seriously engaged in the peace negotiation with the government of South Sudan, with full commitment, aimed at addressing the root causes of the conflict; and affirms the right of the people of South Sudan to federal system of governance, imbued in positive constitutionalism, rule of law, justice and accountability, transparency and the upholding of fundamental human rights of all our people”. The Press Statement continued.

In other reports, the final peace talks between the warring principals have failed to achieve peace agreement in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

According to Dr. Dhieu Mathok Diing, the SPLM-IO lead negotiator, President Salva Kiir who was accompanied by his chief negotiator Nhial Deng Nhial and Michael Makuei Lueth has objected all the proposals of SPLM/SPLA without justifications.

“Government officials are not getting us or they might have understood our position but ignored it. We have no agreement almost on all topics from Status of Forces, Federalism, Transitional Security, Wealth Sharing, Debts, Permanent Constitution, National Assembly and Council of States and Justice for the war’s victims.” Dr. Dhieu Mathok Diing Wol told SBS radio.

South Sudan ‘s peace will be reach in long distance
as we all obsreved the current conditions of S Sudan ,it’s showed to us that Salva kiir is protesting for Dinka interest
because they owned the government of S Sudan as their cattle grazing filed
we need to open our eyes as Paul Malong declared that if Kiir sign peace with Dr Riek then he would take off the presidency which is very impossible

its high time our leaders realise that the citizens are in need of peace…leave behind your own interests because you didn’t choose yourself to that position….please we plead with our leaders as the young citizens of our beloved country South Sudan…to accept any peace negotiations

The so called SPLM/A-O is copying the protocols of the CPA in its negotiations with the government. This is not going to lead to peace. South Sudan is one country and there is no way two armies or wealth sharing can be negotiated and acceptable by the government. Let’s see where Riek Machar is going to stay once sanctions are slapped on him and Salva Kiir. Of course the Ethiopians will ask him and his top rebel politicians to leave once sanctions are imposed.

Another one says, “Ba yioku yiath, ba yioku yiath luak Ngundeng cie jen kuaa Nguene, me kua nguen bia kule we ni yicia widun guandong.” It says, “I will use your weapons, I will use your weapons because Ngundeng’s nation has been envied; where will you go as it has been envied; return to God as the last choice.”

In what elders thought was a situation of an imposed final war on the South that would also be different from the wars fought in the past; Ngundeng also said “Koor e thaar rele rode ci dual ngoang gat gualeen, cieng guari ci duale ngong, nyan nyan koor e kua jol ni wal …kora col yiene mieth beel.” Translation, “The war of last year (before) is different; I am tired of being afraid my step brother; people of my father’s land, I am ceasing to get afraid; I have been trying to avoid war for a very long time…do you think my war is like eating grain?” In another portion he continued by saying “yoate thony e bi kuake duoth, kathi rodu nhiam Deng ke taath mi boor, ken wii wal bike ku ruac..?.” This translates “I will hit the circumcised (Jalaba); and he will leave behind all his properties; Jalaba has come across God who holds a big brand new spear; the ten states will finally be ruled by…? A “big brand new spear” to elders may mean a type of modern weaponry. Also note that I cut off some of the last sentence because of its sensitivity.

He also said, “Ken jiook ka ci kena ngar-ngare…caa goola yoac mac ci goola de riaw, wec jiath da thiele coah, coah ni coa ran…gaat ji hook e mo ca ngaai.” Translation, “My dogs have played against me; they have dragged my family (nation?) on to fire; my family almost got destroyed; among our trees have no other bones; only the bones of humans; my children, I don’t know why.” And he continued in another portion that “Mi waa rode thaac luak ba gaat ka ciol…ba gaat ka col I bia luaak bi rol kon ben jiek ni rey luak, e luak Deang yith puar.” Translation, “When I reach (control) all the corners of my luak (South Sudan) I will call my children to come so that Jalaba will get us in our land; let the Luak reach to the skies.”

The attitude of ownership, completely overrides the concept, where a leader puts into consideration the welfare of the people above all. It is only when that government is forcefully uprooted from its entire leadership, when PEACE shall return to the people of South Sudan.

What the secretary general of state said, enough is enough to impose sanction on south sudan is the right way that, will force the two sides of the negotiation teams to reach the peace deal. Kiir must go.
