Feb 2, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — The former Director General of South Sudan TV and Radio, Brig. Gen Khamis Abdel-Latif, who recently defected to SPLM/SPLA [IO], under the leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny, is now confirmed as a Major General and the Commander of Lake Forces.
Gen. Khamis declared his defection to SPLM/SPLA [IO] in a day-long Press Conference at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, where thousands of South Sudanese and friends attended a briefing by SPLM/SPLA[IO] Chairman and his deputy, Lt. Gen. Alfred Lado Gore.
During his defection, Gen. Khamis begs for weapons to establish a military front for the SPLM/SPLA [in Opposition] in his home town of Lake States.
Gen. Khamis stresses that his people of Lake State are destabilized and devastated by the poor leadership of Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardiit, a native of the neighboring Warrap state.
Khamis calls on the youth and people of South Sudan to support the leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny to bring the reforms and transformation that are most needed in all parts of the country.
