August 20, 2014(Nyamilepedia) — David Yau Yau, who recently took an oath in present of president Salva Kiir with hopes to fight rebellion in the country has declined an assignment to fight the neighboring Lou-Nuer Sub-tribe.

Yau Yau has downplayed recruiting over 10, 000 youth from the marginalized minority tribes of the newly established state of Greater Pibor Administrative Area(GPAA) to attack Akobo, Uror, Waat and Ayod.

The former rebels leader objects the decision to raise such a huge number of fighters, mostly from the Murle Tribe, saying that he did not join the government to fight the targeted tribes but to defend the country as a whole.

“We need this conflict to be ended as soon as possible and that’s why I decided to join the government to help them in ending it. But I cannot allow my Murle people to go Nuer land again without a clear and structured mandate. We have nothing against the Lou Nuer. But I can accept to help in mobilising force to protect the whole country and not to fight Lou.” Yau Yau stated.

According to the report, seen by Nyamilepedia’s editorial team, the Chief of Staff, Malong Awan, issued an order for the youth to be recruited, equipped and briefly trained in the neighbor state’s capital, Bor, before they are matched to fight the white army.

A decree issued by the incumbent president, Salva Kiir, and read on the national television(SSTV) on August 12, 2014, removed Joshua Konyi from the Pibor county’s commissioner post and reinstated him into army as a Brigadier General to recruit and lead the youth against the wild white army in Jonglei state.

The plan, coordinated by the newly appointed Jonglei State’s Deputy governor from Murel tribe, Baba Medan Konyi, will be allegedly facilitated by the Ugandan army and government loyal soldiers.

“The Uganda army and government soldiers will join the murle army of cobra. The army will provide logistic for the youth and supply them with ammunition. They said Ugandan soldiers of Acholi tribe and Murle tribe in the army will fight in civilian clothes” the report reads.

The chief of general staff, Paul Malong Awan, raised and trained youth, mostly from his home states, earlier this year to penetrate into Ayod, Uror, Waat and Akobo counties, however, the allied troops have been contained in Palieth suburbs of Ayod town.

The trapped troops are cornered from the four main exits with little hopes to trace their routs back to Jonglei state’s capital as Maj. Gen. Gatwech Dual of the SPLA (in opposition) has seized and deployed in Duk counties. This leaves Murle through Akobo as the option to rescue the troops in Ayod and penetrate the interior.

Heavy battles have been reported from Ayod in the last four months, in what the SPLM/SPLA in opposition believes is a containment exercise to prevent the government soldiers from encroaching more territories. The government counters the rebels report that their position is being attacked and therefore act in self defense.

The former governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal state, Paul Malong Awan, who took oath in April this year as the Chief of the army has promised to end the rebellion within 30 days when the troops entered Ayod four months ago after intensive recruitment and training.

The government receives an expensive load of “big guns” from China, however, the Watch Human Right reports indicate that the government has uniformed and equipped children, under age of 12, to fight the rebellion in Unity state.

In Upper Nile state, the government is accused of training youth from Mabaan to fight the rebels under a banner of Mabaan People Defense Force.

South Sudan’s anti-government opposition and Mabaan community of North America have raised concerns that the government will recruit and train youth from Murle and Anyuak to fight the Nuer’s white army in Jonglei state. Yau Yau, however, questions joining the bandwagon.

He believes that he joined the government to foster peace and reconciliation among the communities but objected the militarization of communities to fight one another, saying that militarization of the country won’t bring peace.

Yau Yau has fought the government for nearly three years with less than 5000 troops, mostly child soldiers, until earlier this year. The wars with the government and tribal feuds have devastated the numerically disadvantaged minority community. South Sudan government has been internationally condemned for human right violation in Pibor and its neighboring counties. SPLA soldiers and military commanders have been arrested and executed for such violations.

Yau Yau reiterates that he is commitment to maintain the agreement with the government and will continue to work for peace in the country.

  • I have so far identified the area of insufficiency among the all S.Sudanese top politicians in the country. 95% of our politicians were illiterates and they happened to be the once serving the nation. If you could look at commencements made by some leaders both in the government and SPLM in opposition, one could think and internalize on bad feelings observation where some of them obtain negative attitudes to reproach the communities problems.

People kept on talking about Murle and Anyuak youths mobilizations to ante- Riek Machar people which is not exist in the minds of GPAA communities. I could see that’s there must be a section of combine leaders from the two dominant power communities comprises of Dinka and Lou Nuer who are not happy to see Murle and Anyuak ethnic groups were observing peace and develop good relationship with the government in their regions. While they were busy in battle ,hurting each other in their tribal war, could have also been rocked GPAA regions as well. To instigate and paralyze Yau Yau demand and held him accountable to continued engage in fighting the government in assisting the Riek Machar rebellion,to enable him get into the power through. Because Yau Yau have got very strong military units. Which Riek Machar could have build robust and strategic relationship with Gen. David Yau Yau in order to absorb Yau Yau forces into his and help join him to expel the government forces during his crucial failed attempted coup we know.

What’s I want to say is that Dinka and Nuer are like. Therefore, the Murle and Anyuak were acted as neutral in this matter, since their tribal war began. If anybody think that the two communities can be used like hand chart by the government to go and fight either Dinka nor Nuer, you’re mind is sick you should be advice to seek for medical attention. Immediately before it’s become critical to you in a departure way. We have known very well that’s there are a blood beneficiaries illiterate politicians, and political vultures who often fueling inter- communal conflicts against a certain Tribe whom they think is overwhelming his/her community could have also be affected to equalize huge lose from the both perished and the victims of war in the previous atrocity committed by their renegade principal’s know as Dr.Riek Machar. We are carefully aware of you planning to spread incitement towards us in the Eastern South Sudan. For this reasons,we are vigilant for any enemy who antagonistically worth to smash or mistreat us along our territorial masses basement. We shall then take an action to pollute on this particular bandits like a dragon thunder destroying on the vegetation during the torrential rain. So that’s these wrong elements of people who were addicted in churning fragile human life in South Sudan, could now know who the witchcraft of war or an Israel army’s among the sixty four Tribes of South Sudan is, in a roar way.

I often have to be ambassador for both country and my community. My philosophy is simplicity and fairness in expressing the fact and trues of the matter. Therefore, I request all S.Sudanese to say something constructive that’s could apparently make potential change for our communities not to lead them into tribal hatred and hostilities. All of us can be good and can be bad at one point,so let’s us discourage communities rivalry not to be blindly go that way of others posted.
