Youth chapter in Australia praises “unforgettable” history that saved Machar from gov’t murder

July 8th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The main armed opposition group’s youth office in Australia has issued a statement praising history made by body guards belong to opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar in July 2016 that saved him from a government plan to assassinate him.

On this day, in July 2016, fighting erupted at a presidential palace between guards loyal to then First Vice-President Dr. Riek Machar and President Salva Kiir Mayardiit.

At the time, there were lest than1400 SPLM-IO forces in Juba. That number was able to rescue and evacuate Machar out of Juba towards the Congolese border were he was eventually extradited to Congo by the UN.

“The office of the SPLM–IO National Youth League in Australia is, at this moment, sending out its salutations and honouring message to the world’s bravest men, freedom fighters who have perished at J1 incident (“Dog Fight”),” the Australian chapter said in a statement extended to Nyamilepedia.

“These men have made an unforgettable history that will be remembered by this generation and the generations to come,” the statement added.

The statement further said without their “sacrifices, the Chairman and Commander In Chief of the SPLM/A-IO Dr Riek Machar Teny – Dhurgon would not have been alive today.”
