In other reports, Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul Yak, former caretaker bishop of the Diocese of Malakal and of the Diocese of Yei, was seen being closely guarded by heavily armed uniformed soldiers or militias.

The snapshot which has been trending for the last one week on social media seems to suggest that the Archbishop could be fearing for his life and needed some protections.

Other bishops, who have commented on South Sudan politics or on the suffering of civilians in IDPs camps have declared that it would be better to die  than to be alive and silenced as situation continues to deteriorate.

It very shameful that even the men of the robe would accept to be ‘guarded’ mere mortals in the name of National Security Operatives. Same!

He was captured by rebel so the church can pay money for his release. That is business the rebel forces are using to capture people so they can demand payment for the release and safe return of the people they have captured. To put an end to that business let the government, church and relatives of the kidnapped stop negotiating any payment as part of the release agreement with rebel groups in the country.
