22 Oct, 2016 (Nyamilepedia) — Blame game between Sudan and South Sudan has kicked off once again after the United States  government accused Salva Kiir’s government of supporting Sudanese rebels, but South Sudan’s information minister Michael Makuei has come out and rejected the accusation as “not correct” saying it was the Sudanese government in Khartoum that is supporting South Sudanese rebels.

“All the rebels who are fighting in South Sudan are accommodated, they are supported and being sponsored by the government of Sudan” Makuei told reporters in Juba.

Michael Makuei said the United States should stop making false accusations against his government without having any concrete evidence because it is Bashir’s government that is supporting the rebels fighting against Kiir’s government.

“I was expecting the American government to come up and say Sudan government, stop harboring these rebels who are fighting South Sudan” Mr Makuei told reporters in Juba on Friday.

Bashir warning

Meanwhile Sudanese President Omer El Bashir has on Friday warned South Sudan’s government of Salva Kiir to stop supporting Sudanese rebels or face serious consequence by December, Bashir has given Salva Kiir’s government in Juba a deadline until December this year to clear out rebels fighting Khartoum from it’s territory or face unknown consequences including military operations “anywhere” inside South Sudan territory to root out Sudanese rebels operating under Juba’s directives.

On live television broadcasting Sudanese president Bashir warned Juba that this is a last chance for the two countries to save their Cooperation Agreement between them, accusing Kiir of not committing to honoring any agreements.

Regime change

The United States government says it has credible evidence which indicates that South Sudan was continuing to support rebels fighting it’s northern neighbor Sudan, it called on Salva Kiir’s government to stop supporting the rebels immediate as required by UN resolution 2046 issued in 2012 after fighting between the two countries.

“The United States calls on the Government of the Republic of South Sudan to comply with its commitments to cease harboring or providing support for Sudanese armed opposition groups, as required by UN Security Council Resolution 2046 (2012)” says part of the statement released by the US state department.

Michael Makuei however accused the US government of trying to seek regime change by making up false accusations against Kiir’s government.

“This is not correct, those who say so have their hidden agenda of the regime change which they have not abandoned. They would try to heap whatever they can afford on the government of South Sudan”
